Q & A with Mr. Strong

Several of my blogger friends {Mia, Maegan, Katie and others} have done the Q&A post with their hubby's and it is hilarious! I enjoyed them so much I decided to jump on board. So, while we were traveling to Chicago, I interviewed Robert. Let me just apologize in advance for some of his answers. He likes to be a stinker...:)

K:What does OOTD stand for?
R: I've never heard of that, I don't know. Hold on. {What he said next, I cannot even share. Embarrassing!}

K: What is the name of my blog?
R: kristalstrong.blogspot

K: What do I typically write about?
R: Silence. Then, the Strong family.

K:What do you know about Pinterest?
R: Pinterest? It's a waste of time.

K: What's a Hunter wellie?
R: Repeat
K: What's a Hunter wellie?
R: What?! Can you put that in a sentence?

K: What is our favorite thing to do?
R: {While giving me googly eyes} "Need I say"

K: What is my favorite TV show?
R: Guiliana & Bill or Parenthood

K: What is one thing nobody knows about me?
R: That's a stupid question. If I knew it, then I would know & therefore doesn't answer the question.

K: What would I order at Starbucks?
R: Half mocha latte frappachino (he was just making up "coffee" words)

K: What do I do when I'm home alone?
R: Vacuum

K: What do you do when you're home alone?
R: Watch tv and surf the internet

So there you have it. A little interview with the hubby. He keeps me laughing, that's for sure!

Game Night

It's no secret that I can be a bit competitive. I enjoy trash talking, though I have definitely been known to eat my words, and I absolutely want to win. I'm not crazy aggressive to where you wouldn't want to play with me, though, all in good fun. :)

When Robert & I were dating & engaged, we loved to play card games. We'd play by ourselves or with friends, but at some point every weekend, and often throughout the week too, we'd enjoy a game night together.

Through the busyness of life, we haven't enjoyed game night together as regularly as in the early days. But every once in a while, we enjoy a cutthroat game of Speed or Dutch Blitz.

This past weekend we enjoyed just that! We spiced it up a bit & enjoyed chocolate fondue with fruit {and some animal crackers thrown in, that's how we roll} and played Speed & Dutch Blitz

What about you? What are some of your favorite games to play? Do you have a favorite at home date night?

Serving with Joy

I'm excited to join with Maegan @ The Modern Tulip for this month's "Monthly Focus". For about a week, I've been thinking over what I'd like to focus on for the month of April and it came to me sitting in our church service on Sunday.

Serving...with joy.

In order to explain why I want to focus on this in April {and beyond}, I need to make a confession. For the past few weeks, I've had a really crappy attitude. And I didn't know why. I assumed it was hormones, or a lack of sleep, or the roller coaster "Spring" weather. But, really, it's been a selfish focus on myself that has caused my poor attitude.

My kids and husband are the ones who have faced the brunt of this attitude problem and they are the ones I want to be {and should be} loving and serving the most! Sure, the days can be long, but the years are so short and I don't want to miss a single moment of joy just because I have a self-centered attitude. So, it's time for a change. I'm ready to make that change.

I love being a wife and a mother. I really do! But I've been letting myself get in the way of joyfully serving Robert, Collin & Emma. During our church service on Sunday, we studied John 13, when Jesus washed the disciples feet, and what exactly that meant in that time period.

This is such an incredible and beautiful picture of Jesus, the Creator of Heaven and Earth, humbling Himself and taking the form of servant for the disciples...and me and you! And Philippians 2:6-7 tells us that Jesus willingly became a servant.

I want to be like Jesus. I want to willingly serve my family. And serve them joyfully. And this is the month to focus on doing just that. I'm going to wake up every morning, ready and thankful for another chance to serve my hubby and kiddos! Let's do this thing!

What about you? Is there anything you'd like to focus on this month?

Five on Friday

It's Friday!!! And this is a very special Friday because...

1. Today is my hubby's birthday!! I'm a big fan of birthdays. I mean, what's better than celebrating those you love?! And this man, I adore! He's a wonderful husband and father and I thank God every day for the blessing he is in my life. I cannot imagine going through life without him!! Happy birthday, Babe!! I love you!!

2. Last night a few of my girlfriends, including this beauty,  and I started our study through Acts. We've been meeting (almost) every week for Bible study since 2012 and I adore our group. Our members change a bit each study, but there are a few of us who have remained constant and I cherish those ladies. There is just nothing like getting together on a weekly basis, studying the Word together and doing life together. So sweet!

3. My bestie from college came over for the day on Wednesday and it was so great to see her. She lives about a hour and a half away and we try to see each other every few months. It's crazy how fast time goes by and how we can go for months at a time without talking, but when we are reunited, we pick right back up as though we were never a part. Those friendships are so sweet and rare and I'm thankful for her!

4. Our home and the way the Lord is already using it. I need to share our story about how the Lord lead us to our house sometime, but I received a really neat call from a friend this week asking if they could use our pool to baptize their little boy who recently accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior! How cool is that?!?

5. And finally, this is just fun. I was at Target, by myself, buying the hubby some birthday cards. I had to wait in line, just like everybody else, but received a fun surprise as I was paying. The cashier told me he was going to give me a $3.00 discount just because I had to wait in line. Haha! I was only buying two cards, shocking I know that I only left with what I came for at Target, and that basically paid for one of the cards. How fun :)

Until next time,

A Dad and his Boy

Collin adores Robert. It's so precious!! He literally screams with excitement every evening when the garage door opens, knowing Daddy is home. And, Collin is completely Robert's mini-me, in every way. Facial expressions, mannerisms, walking...even the way he likes to push my buttons. :) I'm so thankful Collin has such an amazing Daddy to emulate as he grows up!

I absolutely love this picture! If you're able to zoom, you can see how much Collin adores his daddy.

They fell asleep one night watching basketball together. It cracks me up that they're even dressed alike!

They walk exactly the same...

And are goofy in the same ways. :)

Until next time,
