What I Wore

You know how you usually need a vacation from your vacation?! Well, that's been true of me since we returned home. It's so good to be home, but my goodness, I have been going nonstop and pulled a million different directions since being home. That being said, I only have pictures of 3 outfits to show you today. I promise, I did get dressed everyday, though. :)

{one}

Shirt: Target
Jeans: Old Navy
Sandals: Kohls (several seasons ago)

{two}

{three}

So, I'm curious. Where's your favorite place(s) to shop? It's pretty obvious where my favorite places are, but I'm thinking I need to branch out a bit. So, where's your favorite place(s) to shop?

The day G and I became besties

Did you know Giuliana Rancic and I are besties?! What, you didn't?! Well, we are. :) Let me tell you how it happened...

If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter (or obviously here :)), you know we recently made a trip to the Chicago area to spend some time with family. While we were there, Robert and I had the chance to go on an overnight date in Chicago. Let me tell you, we had the best time together! It was exactly what we needed! This trip is when G & I became besties, too.

On the train ride into the city, I snapped this pic of Robert and I and posted it to my Instagram and Twitter with the caption seen below. After posting, I put my phone away and enjoyed my time with my Hubby.

We made it to the city and set out for our home for the evening, Hilton Garden Inn. It took us a little bit to make our way there, we kept getting turned around, but it was worth the trouble. The hotel has recently been remodeled and was so nice! And so perfectly located for the things we were planning to do. I highly recommend it if you're making a trip to the city and need a hotel.

Once we made it to our hotel, I pulled out my phone to see what was going on in the social media world and I was shocked with what I found...

Giuliana had retweeted our pic!!

I can only imagine what a nerd I looked like as I jumped up and down telling Robert what had happened, but I didn't care. G retweeted me! Now, I realize she only said two words, but honestly, how fun is that?! Our picture was retweeted to 3.2 million followers. Haha! Kinda fun!!
By the time our dinner reservations at RPM rolled around, I was pretty certain that if I ran into her at the restaurant, we'd instantly become besties. :) Although we didn't see her or Bill, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and the rest of our date in the City.

So, what about you? Have you been retweeted or mentioned by any of your favorite celebrities?

Kale Salad

Today I'm co-hosting a 'healthy recipe' link up with Cassie @ True Agape and some other lovely ladies. If you have any favorite 'healthy', which I understand is rather broad, recipes you'd like to share, link up below!

Last year I signed up for The Fresh 20 and found an awesome massaged kale salad I wanted to share with you. I had actually never tried kale until I made this salad and I was pretty unsure about it. But let me tell you, I fell in love with kale after having this salad. If you don't already enjoy kale, I hope you will after trying this massaged kale salad.

Five on Friday: Birthday Wish List

Happy Friday!! I'm so happy it's Friday and the weekend is upon us! I'm running my first 5k race tomorrow with Mia and some other friends. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time. I definintely haven't seriously trained for this race, so I doubt I'll run the whole time, but I think it'll be a really fun first race.

My birthday is a week from Sunday (May 4), so I thought I'd post my birthday "wish list" in case my hubby or mom is reading and wondering what I might like for my birthday. :) You'll have to let me know if you have any of my wishlist items and what you think of them or if you have other suggestions instead.

{one} Clarisonic Mia Skin Cleansing System
{two) Gerbera Daisy Tervis Water Bottle
{three} Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens

Thankful Thursday Week 17

Happy Thursday y'all!! I hope you enjoyed a nice Easter with family/friends and are having a great week! Katie, Mia, Carly & I hope you'll join us this week as we share what we're thankful for {big or small}. Lot's to be thankful for this week! Let's get started...

Robert and I enjoyed such a great date day/night/weekend. It was so much fun and so very needed!!

We enjoyed a fun Easter hunting eggs and focusing on the real celebration of Easter. TheChurch.at kicked off a new series that you don't want to miss!

While in Chicago, we were able to spend time with family we don't often get to see. The kids thoroughly enjoyed all the extra loving. :)

The ride home was uneventful, yet fun. We decided to make a pit stop at The Arch to stretch our legs and walk around a bit. After all day in the car, though, knowing we were only an hour from home was thrilling for all!

There's a quick recap of some of the things I'm grateful for this week. I'd love to hear from you! Link up with us below or share your thoughts in the comments!

Five on Friday

Hey y'all! It's been quite awhile since I've participated in & linked up with Lauren & Darci for a Five on Friday{H54F} post. I'm excited to be back & look forward to connecting with some other great bloggers!

We are in the Chicago area visiting family & Robert & I have an overnight date night planned in the city. I.AM.PUMPED. You might remember how much I missed him while he was out of town, so this date night is extra exciting. I've enjoyed Chicago before with Mia, but it'll be so fun to enjoy the city with my love!

We have dinner reservations tonight at RPM! Eek!! You might remember how much Mia & I enjoyed eating there, plus we just love Guiliana & Bill, so I'm super excited to eat there again & enjoy it with Robert!

It's no secret that I love The Lord & am a Jesus follower, so I have to talk about it being Good Friday today. What a dark day this was, that Jesus took upon Himself all the sins of the world so that you & I could spend eternity with Him {if we accept His free gift of salvation}. It was a dark day indeed but....

Sunday is coming!!!! Hallelujah He did not stay in the grave! Three days later, He rose from the grave. He defeated death! And through Him we can enter into a intimate, personal relationship with the Creator of the Universe. My Lord & Savior! Is He yours too?! I'd love to talk with you more personally about Jesus if you'd like. Email me anytime.

For the past 6 weeks, I've joined the incredible SheReadsTruth community for #SheSharesTruth. You can check out all my posts here.

Thankful Thursday Week 16

Happy Thursday, y'all! I'm heading up to Chicago right now to visit my in laws and other family in the Chicago area. I hope you'll join myself & my sweet co-hosts, Katie, Mia & Carly, to share {big or small} what you're thankful for this week.

{one} I took Emma with me when I got my haircut last Friday so she could get a trim herself. She did great and looks as cute as a button! :)

{two} After a long day out, Emma almost fell asleep in the car but insisted on holding Collin's hand to do so. Love!

{three} We spent the weekend putting together a new play set for the kiddos. Monday was cold, even snowed a little, so it wasn't until Tuesday that they were really able to enjoy it. They enjoyed a picnic on their new little picnic area.

{four} Chocolate fondue with my sweetie!! We enjoyed a game night with chocolate fondue that was delicious.

{five} Not pictured is Max, our Great Dane. He typically sleeps most of the day, but the minute we go outside to play, he is right there beside us. And he just follows the kids all over the yard making sure everything is ok. :)

Game Night

It's no secret that I can be a bit competitive. I enjoy trash talking, though I have definitely been known to eat my words, and I absolutely want to win. I'm not crazy aggressive to where you wouldn't want to play with me, though, all in good fun. :)

When Robert & I were dating & engaged, we loved to play card games. We'd play by ourselves or with friends, but at some point every weekend, and often throughout the week too, we'd enjoy a game night together.

Through the busyness of life, we haven't enjoyed game night together as regularly as in the early days. But every once in a while, we enjoy a cutthroat game of Speed or Dutch Blitz.

This past weekend we enjoyed just that! We spiced it up a bit & enjoyed chocolate fondue with fruit {and some animal crackers thrown in, that's how we roll} and played Speed & Dutch Blitz

What about you? What are some of your favorite games to play? Do you have a favorite at home date night?

*I found this quote after I wrote this post and thought it was perfect! :)

Frozen Fruit Cups

Happy Monday! I hope y'all had a great weekend. We spent the weekend building a play set for the kiddos. It was no quick job, but their smiles & laughs while playing on it make it completely worth it. :)

The weather was beautiful this weekend! In fact, it made me think of one of my favorite spring & summer snack recipes. So refreshing & filling, especially when you're playing all day outside or splashing in the pool.

1 Corinthians 2:1-5

I'm so excited to once again join in the SheReadsTruth community for this weeks SheSharesTruth. This is our final post in the SheSharesTruth series. I hope you've enjoyed it as much as I have. I'd love to hear your feedback on the last few weeks...if you've enjoyed it, would like it to continue (maybe bi-weekly or monthly), or if you'd prefer to skip it altogether. Let me know! This week we studied 1 Corinthians 2:1-5.

**************************************************************

I love this passage, especially in the NLT version. If you haven't already, I'd encourage you to go read it, then come back and let's chat a little about the passage

Have you ever felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to share the gospel with somebody, but were too afraid to take a step and start that conversation? Maybe it was a complete stranger you started a conversation with at Target, the dentist office, the airport. Or, a neighbor you have seen a few times, but don't know too terribly well. Or a close friend or family member. Somebody the Lord has clearly laid upon your heart to talk with about Him.

But, you're too scared you won't know the answers to their questions. Or you won't speak eloquently. Or, you'll be rejected and possibly lose a relationship over broaching the subject of Jesus.

I get it. I really, really get it! But, their {potential} relationship with Jesus is far more important than our fears. We don't have to worry about having the right words to say or all the answers to their questions. All we have to do is share the truth of Jesus, that He died on the cross for their sins, rose 3 days later and wants nothing more than an intimate personal relationship with Him.

And if your fear of rejection becomes a reality, just remember that they are not rejecting you, but rather rejecting Jesus. He sees, he knows. He will bless you for obeying Him, even when you've lost a relationship.

Several years ago, November 2011 to be exact, I felt this prompting by the Lord to share Jesus with my, then, neighbor. And I fought it. I represented all the fears I previously mentioned. I could come up with countless reasons why I couldn't talk with her or how I had misheard the Lord. But, deep down, I knew I had heard Him correctly and that I needed to share Jesus with her.

So, I took that step of obedience and I shared Jesus with her. I was a nervous wreck, fumbled over my speech, but I knew that nothing I shared with her would come back void. {Isaiah 55:11} So I prayed that He would speak through me and He would work in her.

And He did!! Since that time, I have been able to grow an incredible relationship with my dear friend, Mia. She has become one of my very best friends. I have watched her relationship with Jesus grow, and, as a result, watched our relationship grow deeper faster and deeper than I would have ever thought because it's rooted in Him.

So, I encourage you today to take that step of faith. Share Jesus with whomever He's wanting you to share Him with. I pray you have tremendously positive results. But, I'm confident that even if your situation doesn't turn out how mine did, that He will bless you for your obedience to Him.

Thankful Thursday Week 15

Happy Thursday! I'll be back later today with my post. I'm currently without a computer. See ya in a bit! :)
***********************************************

Ok, I'm back! A little late, but better than never, right?! I hope you've already had a chance to stop by Katie, Mia and Carly's blog to see what they're thankful for this week. And if you haven't already, we hope you'll join us and share something big or small that you're thankful for this week!

{one} Obviously, it's no secret that I'm way thankful that Robert is home. He had a good time in Belgium and Italy (big boo I couldn't join him!), but he's just as happy to be home as we are to have him home!

{two} My parents! They have been so encouraging to me this week! They always are, but this week they've been extra encouraging and I am so thankful for their love, words and support!

{three} You!! I am so thankful for the sweet friends I have made through blogging. Honestly, y'all have been SO encouraging to me, especially this past week, and I could not be more thankful for each and every one of you!

{four} The Spring Style Challenge I'm participating in. Our outfits will be released starting Sunday night and I am so excited about it!!

What about you? What are you thankful for this week?

One struggle

Do you have a particular struggle or weakness that Satan attacks you with? You might be going along just fine, not struggling too much with the lie(s) he's feeding you, and then, one day, you begin to believe that lie(s) as truth.

I do. It's that I am not enough. I talked about it a few months ago as my #onebigtruth I'm constantly learning. You should check it out, maybe it'll encourage you!

I've been struggling with this lie a lot over the last few days. And I'm done giving him the victory. I'm committing to live in the freedom that only He provides. I choose this day, right now, and probably many times throughout the day, that because of Him I am enough!

Do you have one struggle, one lie you're believing today? I encourage you to find the Truth in Him!

Sparkly Green Earrings

Can I just say how nice it is to have Robert home?! It's so nice! He was able to work from home yesterday and battle his jet lag. It was just so great to have him home...even when he was working! But, enough of me gushing about that, on to a book I'd love to gush about....

Let me tell you, I loved this book. My friend Jen let me borrow it {Thanks, Jen!} and I sat down with it one afternoon while the kids napped and read half way through the whole thing right then! It was such a good and fast read.

Melanie has a great way of expressing her thoughts in an incredibly relatable way. I had heard people say they literally laughed out loud & cried while reading the book, and it's not that I didn't believe them, but, I guess, maybe I didn't believe them. Ha! Let me tell you...she makes you laugh and cry the whole way through.

And I really don't think you have to be a mother to enjoy this book. Obviously being a mother makes it even more enjoyable, but I still think you'd really enjoy it if you're not a mother.

Have you read Sparkly Green Earrings? What did you think about it? I can't wait to read her new book The Antelope in the Living Room

Also, at the end of the book, there was an ad for A Little Salty to Cut the Sweet. Have you read that book? I'm curious about it and think I might have to read that soon, too.
