One month!

A month has come and gone already with our little man!! My goodness that went fast! He has changed so much in that short amount of time. He has really started to put on weight and grow in length which makes me so very happy!! And he's waking up more and more and has even started cooing at me....brings tears to my eyes every time I hear him do that!! And most recently, he's decided that he only wants to eat once at night. His last feeding is about 9 or 10pm and then he'll wake me up between 2-3am to eat and then won't eat again until 7am. I wish I could say that he sleeps the entire time between feedings, but we're not quite there yet. He'll wake me up after he eats with a dirty diaper but goes right back down once he's all clean. He's really such a good baby. We feel quite blessed! It's an interesting thing because I really can't imagine my life without him and I sit here and wonder, what did I do before he was here? It feels like the most natural thing to have him in our life and I'm loving being his mommy. There's no doubt that this is what I was made to do. I only have a couple pictures to post...my goal is to take more pictures of our little cutie...especially since he's waking up more!

I stole the idea of taking monthly pictures with a stuffed animal from Lisa. The idea is to have a BIG stuffed animal so you can see how much he's grown. Well, wouldn't you know the one big stuffed animal I had somehow found it's way into Max's mouth and became a toy. So, I chose this lamb in honor of my Grandma Miller who passed away in December. She had a lamb very similar to this one that my parents got for her when my Grandpa passed away. It was a very special lamb to her and in her last days she ALWAYS had it in her arms. I sure do miss her!

This was his first day to go to church. He had the cutest outfit on and those shoes....oh I just love them!! (Excuse the mommy in this picture...definitely need make-up!)

3 weeks

I can't believe it but my little bugaboo is 3 weeks old today!! Where has the time gone?! I was telling my mom the other day that I'm finally feeling like, "Ah, I can do this. I am confident in my ability to care for Collin and hopefully be a good mommy to him. And we're finally getting on a routine. No more day and night confusion!" There was a time when I didn't think I'd ever get to this point, but I'm here! And it only took 3 weeks. I'm thinking that's not too bad.

We had a rough week last week, though, because when I took him in for his 2 week appointment, he hadn't regained enough weight to put him back at his birth weight. I, of course, had been worrying about him and wondering if he was getting enough milk from me as I was breastfeeding him. I even called my OBG/YN a couple days before his 2 week appointment asking how to get my milk supply up. Well, my worst fears were confirmed when we found out he wasn't gaining weight like he should be. Boy, did I feel like the worst mom ever!! I truly didn't mean to starve the little guy (and no, he wasn't starving but trying to convince me that I hadn't hurt my little man was nearly impossible). The doctor reassured me that with a little supplementing he'd be back at his birth weight in no time. So, that's what we did. I breastfeed and supplemented him with formula. I also began taking some medication to get my milk supply up. Unfortunately, I don't believe it's helping me make more milk or perhaps my milk isn't rich enough for him...if that's even possible. But, the good news is that Collin is putting on weight...and quickly!! PRAISE THE LORD!! And that's what I've been most concerned about. So, I believe I've come to the conclusion that for whatever reason, breastfeeding isn't going to work out. Oh how this breaks my heart because I LOVE breastfeeding and if I could only make more it would be great. But my top priority is to care for my sweet little man....and putting weight on and growing as he should is what's most important. So, any reassurances that I'm still a good mom even though breastfeeding isn't going to work are much appreciated! :)

More importantly, here are some pictures of the little guy!! Oh he just gets sweeter every day!!

Already changing...

So Collin's not quite 2 weeks old but I think he's already changing...he can't grow up that fast!! Slow down little guy! And who knew that we could love him even more!?!

Just a couple pictures my mom took. I really need to get on the ball and start taking more pictures of my little man!

Just a few...

Here are just a few pictures of Collin. Enjoy!

Poor little guy had to spend a day under that light for jaundice. Thankfully it was only for a day and night. It was awful not being able to cuddle him!

He likes his bed...although we're currently working on straightening him out on when the daytime is and when it's nighttime. He has them a little confused...

He's knocked out after his first sponge bath at home. I'm very much looking forward to when his umbilical cord falls off so he can have a real bath. I think he'll enjoy it much more.
